Control room operative

Looking for a new challenge? Then why not consider our exciting new control room operative’s position at our Halesworth control room. You will work as part of our busy control room team who deal with over 20,000 jobs each year, providing a high-quality service to customers.

As part of the role you will be deploying members of our recovery and roadside staff to assist in rescuing broken down and stranded vehicles throughout East Anglia.

AW & D Hammond have been providing a high-quality customer service for nearly 60 years to some of the UK’s biggest breakdown and motoring organisation such as AA, Green Flag, RAC and Britannia Rescue as well as working closely with the Norfolk & Suffolk Police force.

Your duties will include:

· Receiving and deploying jobs to our recovery and roadside teams. This will include both light and heavy recoveries and roadside breakdowns through our computerised despatch software.

· Making introductory calls to the broken-down members of the public, reassuring them that help is on the way, keeping them informed of progress and updated with ETAs.

· Keeping customers and recovery clubs updated on job progress.

You will be required to have:

· Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, in what can be a busy commercial environment.

· A professional telephone manner and be clear, concise and accurate in relaying facts and messages to both the team and the client.

· The ability to work on your own and as part of a wider team.

· A good geographical knowledge of East Anglia.

· A working knowledge of vehicles and basic mechanics would be advantageous, but not essential.

· Be able to satisfactorily pass our vetting scheme.

This position works on a rota-basis on a four on/two off pattern (four day shifts 7am-2.30pm, two days off, four late shifts 2.30pm-10pm) including weekends and bank holidays.
