When i placed the order for my new Isuzu AT35 with my extensive "wish list" i was a little apprehensive that everything would get done to my high standards in the time frame allowed but Aaron assured me everything would be ok and not to worry.

We hadn't purchased a vehicle from Hammond's previously but wanted to try and buy locally if we could. The salesman was excellent - during the test drive he realised that we had done a significant amount of research so he didn't bother giving us the hard sell, he just gave us the facts and room to make up our own mind. Once we made the decision to purchase the process was very thorough. Even picking up the vehicle was thorough, down to explaining every aspect of the car before we drove it away. I would highly recommend them.

I have had to call Subaru Assistance twice in 4 days for a car with less than 1000 miles on the clock and now I have to wait five days to have the faulty battery replaced. It is frustrating when only a few miles from the Hammond garage to have to wait hours for the AA twice in a week and then a further wait to have the battery checked and a new one ordered when the AA diagnosed that it was faulty. Luckily I still have my old car (as I was offered such a low trade in from Hammonds) as otherwise I would I would have been really stuck over the weekend and I have had to cancel plans this week as I cannot tow my trailer.
We really apologise for any inconvenience caused. There is a tremendous drain on modern batteries these days, with the cars being so packed full of modern technology and very rarely even a new battery can fail. In these isolated cases we have to follow Subaru’s procedure which includes an AA diagnosis.
By the time you read this we will have a new battery fitted.

I found the car I wanted on the other end of the country. Once I have paid my deposit it was very difficult to get replies or answers. I mentioned this and the was assured they were sorry and would give me a tank of gas and floor mats to make up for this. Once I received my car there was no mats. I was then assured they were in first class post and would get home before I did. They did not. Since then I have been told a few times they were on their way. I get promised return calls and get nothing. My carpets are now dirty and I have to now buy carpets and mats. A very simple little thing that makes the difference between you spending another £30000 in four years with the same company or not.

I was made to feel like a valued customer right from the first time I entered the dealership. The vehicle type was demonstrated by Ian and the route taken was varied and showed the versatility of the car. The special adaptions that I needed were arranged for and fitted professionally. The initial service was absolutely brilliant. Great salesman with a very good attitude, read us and the situation extremely well. To be fair I was replacing my vehicle with another the same but updated as the most modern Pathfinder is just not man enough for the purpose sadly. Anyway, that apart, this was all done during the hand over from Marshall to Hammond. The vehicle was ready when arranged, looking great and everything appeared to be fine. Because of the hand over the service book hadn't been filled in and stamped but we quite understood this and the salesman told me he would telephone on the Monday following collection on the Friday to see how things were and to arrange for the service book to be filled in. Despite having called three times to date (18th May) from 8th April collection we have had no contact at all. This is exactly what happened when we purchased the original vehicle (new) from Marshall in Cambridge and we vowed never to go back there.

I was approached by the Hammond Group about replacing my 5 year old Nissan X-trail and although I had not planned to do so I decided to see what was on offer. The X-trails available I did not feel suitable but it was suggested I looked at the Subaru Forester. I had had Subaru vehicles for many years before switching to Nissan so was happy to have a look. I was told of a Forester coming in which was of as similar spec to my existing X-trail, had a tow bar, an intelli-key and rear view camera. Because Hammonds have been a very good garage to us for nearly 20 years I was happy to agree to the part-exchange without seeing the Subaru. However when I took delivery of the car it did not have an intelli-key but did have a detachable tow bar and rear view mirror. I do a lot of towing as I have a horse, run a smallholding so need to transport cattle and sheep, and also tow a caravan. Hammonds are aware of this so imagine my surprise this evening when I came to use the livestock trailer and found the lights don't work because the electric circuit is probably not configured correctly - surely this should have been checked before I took delivery. I also felt the car could have had a better valet.

Their service was great until I realised my car wasn't taxed legally, the law changed in October 2014 and they seemed completely unaware of the changes, which mean vehicle tax can no longer be transferred as part of a sale. They had re- taxed the car, but under the garages name instead of mine, which left me illegally driving for a month. It would have been a lot longer if I hadn't phoned DVLA to check that I was the registered keeper, which I wasn't, and then it had to be changed and taxed all over again, which to their credit they did.. But if I had had an accident in that month, of course my insurance would be void.

Reasoning for a poor rating is as follows. Peter, was very good, helpful and knowledgeable. However, the car was supposed to be valeted....... to say I was dissapointed with your effort Hammonds is an understatement. It's the poorest valet I have ever seen. The seats are marked and I can only assume were previously filthy, personally I would not have sat in the back! It has needed subsequent cleans at our expense to bring it to an acceptable standard. The interior windows on the passenger side appear to fog up with a film on the inside, quite bizarre and an issue to see out of, if not cleaned regularly. I didn't realise that the interior was in such poor condition until after I had taken ownership of the car. An explanation and an apology would be nice. I would seriously consider ever coming back to you for an upgrade in a few years, that's how strongly I feel. £16,000 is not a small purchase, I rest my case! I reiterate however that we were very happy with the service Peter provided.
Please accept our apologies. We are extremely disappointed as you are to hear that your car was not clean upon delivery. We would really like the opportunity to correct this.

My rating of Hmmd Grp reflects my overall experience from enquiry stage through to delivery.The fact that part way into the process I was on vacation (malta),where I felt on occasions communications networks were not functioning 100%, I felt commercial sales were well meaning in attending to my requirements.In addition,upon my return previous arrangements had to be changed,owing to family illness,which were executed exactly as agreed (thanks).One minor point following delivery and inspection of vehicle,was a noteable scuffing of a rear alloy which was highlighted via email to commercial sales mgr,as it was not recorded on the pre-delivery inspection document.This was not going to negatively impact upon our use of the vehicle,more of an irritation,at that time we felt really positive and satisfied of making a good choice and in all honestly still do,but, for one developing and annoying issue (a 'rattle') from the rear passenger side sliding door.Hopefully, someone in the organisation would value my feedback,with an acknowledgement of what I would say is 'a fly in the ointment'.

In April I advised you that I was going to change my car within 6 months as the old Ford I was driving had 173k on the clock, my motor insurance renewal was at the end of October and the next MOT due in November.
We discussed the guidelines, bearing in mind that one of the requirements was to ensure my elderly relatives (87 year old mum and mother-in-law at 84) needed easy access to both the back and front seats. We were more than delighted with the customer approach given by all the team members who we met, the first rate service and in particular want to mention James, who proved to be an excellent sales professional in every regard. He is a fine example of how a local, friendly business needs to operate, building a great customer rapport with us and remained patient and cheerful throughout our car purchasing project. Everyone we encountered was more than helpful from reception, accounts and sales.

The only slight niggle that I have is that I did ask for the torneau cover to be cleaned top side and underneath as it was badly stained and unfortunately it was not, but this does not deter from the excellent service I had. KEEP IT UP !

Bought a new X Trail, great vehicle and ordered the Olive Green.......beware its nothing like the brochure!!!! its sludge/brown. We were not informed about the colour difference and when we quiered this we were told unless we want to now buy new again in a different colour nothing can be done!!!!!

When you looked at Titanium Olive, on another X-Trail prior to ordering the vehicle, we naturally assumed that it was your choice of colour.
We were still of the understanding that you were happy when you took delivery.
It was not until we received your email a few days later, that we realised your concerns.
As you can appreciate it is now difficult to change the colour.
We are sorry that you find yourself with this dilemma; however we will continue to try and think of a way to resolve this situation.

Very disappointed that the truck did not have parts fitted and was lied
to,sorry but would not recommend hammonds to other buyers although I am happy with my Isuzu just the service bad.
