Although Hammonds have been an independent family business in the motor trade since 1962 'Hammond Land Rover Ltd' was incorporated in 1991.
The opportunity to represent this prestigious franchise was taken up and backed by substantial investment to build new premises on a green field site - opening our doors to the public in January 1992.
Underpinned by Hammonds motor trade acumen and W E Wigg's old customer base - nurtured by Philip Wigg - we made rapid progress
Our initial staff of 12 has gradually increased to a total of 59.
Our client base has strong agricultural links covering the whole of East Anglia and beyond, with the balance of our business now being conducted with the local business community.
However, with the emergence of Freelander we are now selling cars to the more families and private individuals.
Hammonds continues to work unstintingly at improving customer satisfaction. Using Land Rovers questionnaires and being measured against 135 other Land Rover dealers in the network, we achieved ‘Regional Dealer of the Year' on more than four occasions.
